Before hitting the stage for the We Can Survive concert, Katy Perry’s BFF spoke with Radio.com about her ’80s-inspired upcoming album, the inspiration behind “Roar” and the difference between writing songs for herself and writing for others.

The female bill was as wide-ranging in all corners of pop as Perry’s latest effort, “Prism,” so not only was the benefit concert Perry’s creation, it also served as a celebration of the new album.
“I think it’s definitely time for those issues to be accepted in country music — I mean it’s 2013,” she said. “Regardless of your political beliefs, everybody should be able to love who they want to love and live how they want to live.”
