My Chemical Romance Meets Mariah Carey in Inexplicable Holiday Mashup

"So many My Chem fans hate this mashup," she jokes.

For those who’ve always wondered what it would sound like if Mariah Carey had recorded a song with My Chemical Romance… Oh wait, no one has ever wondered that. But thanks to “Maddy,” a YouTuber who goes under the name oneboredjeu, we now know what such a hybrid would sound like.

In the song below, titled “The Christmas Parade,” Maddy has not only taken two very different artists and mixed them to make something new, but she’s challenged My Chem’s fanatical fans to endure Mariah Carey’s sugary sweet Christmas ballad with MCR’s deeply powerful track, “The Black Parade.”

“I think I thought of it last year but I didn’t have the materials [raw audio work parts] to get it to fruition,” Maddy tells Radio.com. “What I like doing is taking two different artists from two different genres and mixing them together as opposed to two of the same… ’cause that’s what everybody does.”

For the Connecticut retail clerk, the response to the mashup has been completely unexpected, especially for someone that has been making mashups for years. “I never expected anything like it. Billboard, Mashable, Huffington Post… it’s been totally overwhelming.”

“So many My Chem fans hate this mashup,” she jokes. “I think it’s hilarious and I completely understand. Some of them are hard core fans and they’re like, ‘What the heck is this person doing?’ To them ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ is a very meaningful song coming from a concept album about cancer and death. So mixing it with ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ which is not about cancer and death… I totally understand.”

Take a listen to the mashup below.

Or, maybe Twenty One Pilots meets The Killers?

How about “Kids In Midnight City,” a mashup of M83 and OneRepublic?

But this one is scary how well it works. “Call Me Planetary.” Yes, it’s Carly Rae Jepsen vs. My Chemical Romance.
