Elton John Won’t Play Donald Trump’s Inauguration

By Amanda Wicks

Besides having to figure out his cabinet and White House staff, Donald Trump will need to sort out the entertainment for his upcoming inauguration in January. Despite an adviser close to Trump saying Elton John would be performing, John’s camp has denied he’ll be a part of the event.

Anthony Scaramucci, a member of Trump’s transition team, said “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the Mall for the inauguration,” mainly because Trump’s people wanted to show solidarity with the LGBTQ community (via BBC News).

But a representative for John said, “Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration” (via New York Post). In fact, John performed at a Hillary Clinton fundraiser in October and said, “We need a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian,” during his performance there (via The Hollywood Reporter).

It’s not clear who Trump will find to perform, since a fair number of popular musicians were opposed to him during his campaign, but he might consider calling up big time fans Ted Nugent and Kid Rock.
