The band turned the radio studio into a raging nightclub replete with lights, effects and a helluva lot of energy.

When it came to writing their new album, James Hetfield said the lyrics were about taming the anger that has always simmered internally since his younger days by letting it out. “I want to mature, I want to be happier in life; I think everyone kinda does,” he told Rolling Stone. “At some point I had to turn around and embrace that anger that has been with me since youth,” he said. “What I get to do is use it as a tool; I get to use music as a voice…to get whatever’s spinning in my head out.”

The band played a total of five songsincluding “Atlas, Rise!” and “Moth Into Flame” off their new album Hardwired…to Self-Destruct—alongside two older classics, “Enter Sandman” and “Harvester of Sorrow.”
