The manager added that Cohen died on November 7, three days before his death was officially announced.

Cohen, 82, had been ill for much of 2016. He released his final album You Want it Darker on October 21. He is survived by his children, Adam and Lorca, and his three grandchildren, Cassius, Viva and Lyon.

The artist was buried in a small ceremony on November 10 in Montreal. “With only immediate family and a few lifelong friends present, he was lowered into the ground in an unadorned pine box, next to his mother and father,” his son Adam wrote in a statement.

A Los Angeles memorial for Cohen is being planned.
