Fergie has made a return to the pop conversation in 2016 but there’s another dialogue to which she’d like to contribute something: shock after the election of Donald Trump. She shared a new solo track called “Life Goes On,” a tonic for Hillary Clinton supporters at the end of a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad week.
“In the midst of all the madness, remember life is beautiful,” she tweeted. The song itself is a tropical number with a simple message about overcoming adversity — namely, a breakup. It strikes a vastly different tone than the summer’s “MILF Money,” and may reveal foreshadow the musical diversity of her upcoming Double Dutchess. The record marks Fergie’s first batch of solo material in a decade.
