When Taylor Swift showed up at Drake’s 30th birthday party in October, it seemed like just another case of celebrity supporting celebrity. But is there more here than meets the eye?
Insiders close to the artists say they’re collaborating on new music. “The music they have been working on is different,” the source told E! News, but added that it was “very catchy.” The source also shared, “They’ve both been having a great time in the studio.”
If new music is all that’s happening between them, it’s unclear who is contributing what. Swift said she wouldn’t be releasing a new album in 2016, even though that broke with the two year release schedule she’s kept since debuting her self-titled album at age 16. She did, however, recently pen the song “Better Man” for Little Big Town, so it’s not as though she’s gone into complete hiatus mode.
Drake, meanwhile, has a new project More Life dropping in December, so perhaps this latest collab has more to do with his music than hers. Towards the end of his Summer Sixteen tour, though, he did detail that he had lots more music coming, so it might not even be related to this next drop.
But let’s hope Kanye West doesn’t get wind of this. He and Drake have reportedly been working on a collaborative album, and if that’s the case then Drake working with West’s supposed enemy might not be the smartest idea. All is fair in love and music, though.
