In 2012, he debuted Captain Murphy, an alter-ego based on the Sealab 2021 character of the same name. Now Captain Murphy is back with an eerie rap track called “Crowned,” released through the 2016 Adult Swim singles series. The ominous orchestration feels like Stranger Things mixed with film noir, in the age of Kanye West.

Adult Swim has more singles on the docket, as the series runs through November. So far, the 2016 bunch has included Against Me!, Vince Staples, and Earl Sweatshirt.
