Neil Young has never shied away from big issues and he’s not about to start now. The veteran rocker has just released the new song, “Indian Giver,” which speaks out against the Dakota Access Pipeline being built on Standing Rock Reservation.

The video for the track shows images from the news, including recent protests of the oil pipeline. One of the lyrics in the song even mentions Native American protester Dale “Happy” American Horse Jr., who was arrested last month after he chained himself to a backhoe in hopes to prevent digging for the pipeline.

“Saw Happy locked to the big machine/ They had to cut him loose and you know what that means/ That’s when Happy went to jail/ Behind big money justice always fails”

Young is depicted in the video driving in his car while wearing a t-shirt that reads “Protect.” During the clip newspaper clippings are thrown on the ground as Young sings about how he wishes more people would discuss relevant issues.

“I wish somebody would share the news/ Bring back the days when good was good,” he sings.

Young isn’t the only singer using his platform to spread awareness of the Dakota Access Pipeline issue. Recently, Tim McGraw shared a message from his friend, Charles, while at a high school football game.

“We send all of our prayers out to all the Natives coming together at Standing Rock Reservations. Stay strong,” Charles said in a clip.
