It appears time on the road during Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour has not only been good for him but his writing as well.
When the tour kicked off in July, Drake shared that he was already hard at work on new music, and now at its conclusion he’s once again opened up about how much he’s managed to accomplish between performing almost nightly, introducing Rihanna at the 2016 VMAs, opening a Houston club and cheering on his goddaughter during her volleyball match. Yeah, he’s has been busy.
During his stop in Tacoma, Washington, on Friday (September 16), he told the crowd, “I’ve been on this tour. I’m recording new music. I’m about like six, seven new songs in. Just getting warmed up. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it, I don’t know what it’s gonna be, but what I do know is I can not wait to come back to the motherf—in’ Tacoma Dome and perform all that s— for y’all.”
If Drake’s working on a new studio album or mixtape, it’s just another notch in his project belt. Kanye West recently shared that he and Drake were officially working on an album together. Considering Drake’s “One Dance” was recently crowned the official 2016 Song of the Summer, it seems he’s on a roll when it comes to writing hits. Though whether he’s the only writer behind them remains to be seen. Last week, Kid Cudi reignited the ghostwriting debate when he called out Drake, Yeezy and others for being fake and not penning their own rhymes.
