Considering the amount of time Chance the Rapper has spent with Kanye West it’s pretty clear the two have formed a mutual admiration society. And Chance wants to make his idolatry official. “I’m literally Kanye’s biggest fan,” he told Billboard.
In addition to loving West’s music, Chance admires his work ethic. While working on five songs with Kanye for The Life of Pablo, Chance watched West navigate different rooms as he dealt from one minute to the next with writers, engineers, producers, wardrobe experts and magicians.
“I watched him knock out six, seven songs that way,” says Chance. “I stole that.”
Indeed, while he was working on his new album Coloring Book, the first streaming-only album to make the Billboard album chart, Chance rented a Chicago studio and worked long hours there, sleeping on inflatable mattresses to maximize his productivity.
Aside from recording his own album and being featuring prominently on The Life of Pablo, Chance appeared with West on Saturday Night Live and provided guest vocals for “Ultralight Beam.”
