David Gilmour Covers The Beatles Classic “Here, There and Everywhere.”

The legendary Pink Floyd guitarist releases dreamy cover of The Beatles Revolver classic

By Jeff Cornell

David Gilmour, who recently confirmed the end of Pink Floyd, has released a cover of the Beatles’ song “Here, There and Everywhere.” The song is featured in this month’s issue of Mojo Magazine, which arrives at newsstands on Tuesday. Listen to the song in the player above.

Gilmour’s dreamy take on the ballad sticks very closely to the original, which is understandable. Why would anyone radically change such an iconic song? His soaring guitar solo is beautifully melodic and truly brings the track to another level.

The cover of the Revolver classic will not be featured on Gilmour’s upcoming solo album, Rattle That Lock; it was recorded for the magazine. Rattle That Lock, though, arrives on Sept. 18. He will kick off a European tour to celebrate the release of the album (his first since 2006’s On An Island) on Sept. 5 in Brighton, England. Gilmour will kick off the U.S. leg with a two-night stand at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on March 24.

Paul McCartney and David Gilmour have a long history. Gilmour played guitar on Macca’s 1984 song “No More Lonely Nights” as well as 1989’s “We Got Married.” The two have also shared the stage together quite a bit and even collaborated on McCartney’s 1999 concert film Live at The Cavern Club.
