As music festival season is in full swing, Jerrod Niemann—who’s played his fair share of them—has dropped a tribute to all the fans that attend them.
“Blue Bandana” is a wandering country travelogue, where Niemann name-checks all the tentpole festivals from Coachella to Bonnaroo and Wakarusa, through the eyes of a girl that travels to them.
“Being a music fan, I know that girl in the song,” Niemann told Rolling Stone. “[‘Blue Bandana’] is a story-song and a tip of the hat to those people who drive all over the place and spend their money to let us jam with them.”
“I love sitting around listening to acoustic music,” Niemann explained. “It allows the music to breathe. So we drew back everything to give it a chance [to sound] like you’re in the room.”
The breezy track is a taste of Niemann’s next album, which will mark his fourth release on a major label. It’ll be his first record since last year’s High Noon.
