On his latest song, a pop-country track called “Young and in Love,” Hayes recalls learning about young love from firsthand experience.
He introduces the song alone on acoustic guitar by saying he is coming to see his old love.
“It’s so hard when you’re young and in love,” he sings. “We were trying and fighting/ holding on laughin’ and cry in’/ ’cause that’s what you do when you’re young and in love.”
Hayes explains to his love that the miles he has gone since knowing her has made him miss her, but he had to travel to grow himself. But he assures her that his “heart knows the way back home.”
Hayes is currently on the road with Lady Antebellum and Sam Hunt for the Wheels Up Tour, where he’s been previewing some of his new music that is expected to be on the followup to 2014’s Storyline.
Pondering playing some new stuff in Cleveland tonight... Little nervous but it's the year to be brave right? 🙂 http://t.co/U8WDx2FJ4A—
