Jason Derulo is feeling real blessed.
His new album, Everything is 4, has already served up a monster hit, the damn near perfect pop song “Want to Want Me.”
“Meghan is an amazing spirit. She’s a friend first,” Derulo enthuses during a recent interview with Radio.com about the singer who appears on the track “Painkiller.” “Everyone on the album is connected to me in some way. I think Meghan is a very special person because she exemplifies what being humble is,” Derulo continues. “She’s still herself now that everything’s happened. She’s still this very down to earth girl next door. She loves to have a great time, just like I do. She likes to goof off and just have fun…we get along very well from that perspective. So it was only natural that that led to doing a song together.”
Derulo’s pride in Everything is 4 is palpable, enough that he can pinpoint a favorite track, instead emphasizing the album’s diversity and range.
“The song that gets me the most turnt up right now I would say is a song called ‘Pull Up,'” he says. “It’s like ‘Wiggle’ on steroids almost … That’s the beauty about this album: It has a soundtrack for different moments. If you’re in the car with your mom and you want to turn up to a specific song that’s both you and your mom’s favorite song, there’s a song on there for that. If you want to be in the bedroom with that special person, lights off, it’s about to go down, there’s a song on there for that.”
