The Band Perry are hard at work on their third studio album, which is due out later this year. In a new interview with CMT‘s Cody Alan, the trio revealed that they’ve been working with Pharrell Williams on the new music.
“We’re being really crazy about the different collaborations that we’re diving into,” Kimberly Perry said. “We got to hang out with Pharrell a couple weeks ago. He’s like a huge country music fan, and he also really loves what we do with harmony. One thing that we worked on with him was this song where all three of us sing different interwoven vocals on the verse and on the chorus.”
Radio.com spoke with The Band Perry last year and while they were tight-lipped on the new material, they did give us some clues as to what to expect.
“As opposed to Pioneer, which is all about being the underdog and rising above circumstance, this album has a lot more of a fun atmosphere around it,” Reid Perry said. “When it even comes to the songs that we’re choosing to start working on, it’s all about, ‘How does it make us feel?’ If it makes us feel good and if has a fun vibe about it, that is the path that we are walking down.’
Kimberly added that their third release will be “a very spirited album.”
“We’re having a lot of fun living with it and making the soundtrack for this album. ‘Chainsaw’ is going to be the last single from Pioneer, so the next one will be turning a page toward album three.”
