Update: As CNN reports, “a source close to the family” says Bobbi Kristina Brown was placed in a medically induced coma on Saturday.
Police confirmed that Brown was found in her home and at this point, investigators have not indicated that drugs or alcohol played a role.
The similarities between Bobbi Kristina and her mother Whitney Houston’s death are struck a cord with police spokesperson, who said, “Her mother died in the very same manner.”
WGCL (CBS 46) reports that Brown, 21, was found by her husband and a friend at their Alpharetta home Saturday morning (Jan. 31) at around 10:30 a.m. ET. They began CPR and conducted a 911 call, after which Roswell police officers and paramedics arrived on the scene.
Police are currently investigating at the scene. Brown has been transferred to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell.
The news comes as the three-year anniversary of Whitney Houston’s death draws near. Houston died Feb. 11, 2012, at age 48, eerily also in her own bathtub at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. An official coroner’s report officially listed the cause of death as drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use contributing factors.
Houston was honored at the 54th GRAMMY Awards a day later on Feb. 12, with a tribute in the form of Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” performed by Jennifer Hudson.
Brown has been linked to possible drug use by news reports in the past, particularly last summer when a photo supposedly of the 21-year-old using drugs surfaced online. She denied posting the photo.
She has not tweeted using her official Twitter account, @REALbkbrown, since Thursday (Jan. 29).
