Lupe Fiasco isn’t letting label drama keep him down.
After sharing “Haile Selassie” and “Lilies,” the Chicago MC is back with another new track today, “Mazinger.”
The track, named for the Japanese cartoon, opens with some grand ballroom bongos and horns and then samples the comic’s theme song.

That fanfare fades away as Lupe comes on the mic, rapping with a smooth flow and name-checking Nas, Kelis and Monica Lewinsky.
“Like Monica sucking and bust on her clothes/ Dishonoring Monica, was it for?” he contemplates over production from S-X. “Monitor Monica, what does she know?/ Finding the evidence, answer the questions/ Did you and the president f–k on the low?” Looks like Lewinsky has someone else to thank.
“Mazinger” will likely join “Haile Selassie” and “Lilies” Lupe’s upcoming Lost in the Atlantic mixtape — a release he’s dropping to tide fans over and possibly to get back at his label, Atlantic Records, for delaying his album Tetsuo & Youth.
Lost in the Atlantic will likely surface soon, though there’s no release date yet, and Tetsuo & Youth is scheduled for next year.
