Flo Rida Teams with Sage the Gemini on Infectious New Song, ‘GDFR’: Listen

By Philip Cosores

Flo Rida has a new club ready anthem and fittingly it adopts an EDM-influenced beat to maximize its appeal without losing any of his signature hooks.

“GDFR,” which is an acronym for “going down for real,” employs an instantly memorable horn drop, along with rhymes from risingĀ hit-maker Sage the Gemini, to create what could have been the song of the summer had it been released a couple months earlier.

If the song accomplishes anything, it will be having teenagers singing along to the phrase “doubleĀ entendre” while on the dance floor, regardless of whether they actually know what that is.

Still, Flo and Sage manage to accomplish in three minutes what people in suits spend years trying to develop a formula for: creating an instant hit that will cross genres and fanbases. That is no small accomplishment.
