Morrissey Record Label Denies Dropping Him

By Marissa G. Muller

Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet, apparently — especially when it is published on Morrissey‘s fan site True to You.

The rumor that the former Smiths frontman was dropped by his record label Harvest, after going on a rant about them — on the fan site, of course — has turned out to be just that.

Billboard has confirmed that Morrissey still has his two-record contract with Harvest — the first being his recent album, World Peace Is None of Your Business — and will presumably put out a second album with them.

One has to expect that Morrissey’s visits to Harvest are at least a little awkward in light of this misunderstanding, plus his rant about their failure to promote his album.

You can revisit the letter he wrote here — or see him in person Oct. 6 in Lisbon, Portugal, where he might touch on it in his performance.
