Bastille Goes Dark R&B on ‘Bad News’: Listen

By Philip Cosores

Bastille seemed to be everywhere a few months back, riding high on their strong singles “Bad Blood” and “Pompeii,” and hitting the festival circuit hard, including an appearance at Coachella.

Now, they will try to strike the trifecta of hits with “Oblivion,” which will get release as an EP, though it is also available on their All This Bad Blood LP.

Perhaps the best news for fans of the UK band is that the EP will offer up a brand new song, titled “Bad News,” and proving to be a misnomer of large proportions.

Skewing more toward the fractured dark R&B sounds of The Weeknd, the track slowly burns and ups the tempo until it becomes the type of anthem they have become known for. Check it out below.

The Oblivion EP, featuring “Bad News,” is out on Sept. 8, and you can pre-order it through the Virgin website here.
