Last night Jeezy opened for Wiz Khalifa in St. Louis — and given the location, he took the opportunity to address the shooting of Mike Brown by the police department in Ferguson, a nearby suburb.

In a video clip of the dedication, Jeezy asks everyone in the crowd to stand together in remembrance and celebration of Mike Brown.

“So this is what we’re gonna do for Michael,” he intones, standing in the light of a TV screen bearing Brown’s face. “Put your cell phones and your lighters in the air right now for your dreams.”

The crowd’s roaring response indicates the heights of passion of many incited by the tragic incident. “Matter of fact, this is for all you big dreamers” concludes Jeezy, who donned a t-shirt reading “R.I.P. Michael Brown.”

He’s not the only high-profile rapper to address the situation: yesterday Killer Mike took to Instagram to voice his anger, saying, “Look what government sanctioned murder has done.”

Brown, 18, was killed in a skirmish with police in Ferguson on Aug. 9. He was reportedly unarmed. Since the incident, protests and riots have broken out in Ferguson and the surrounding area.
