Wiz Khalifa Wants to Get ‘So High’ on New ‘Blacc Hollywood’ Cut: Listen

Wiz Khalifa has dropped a new leak of his forthcoming Blacc Hollywood LP.

The song is actually a remix of an atmospheric jam of the same name by Los Angeles-based Ghost Loft, from 2013. But while the original sounds like garbled pop music from a mermaid kingdom emerging from a whirlpool, Khalifa adds a touch of heavier bass and reflects on the poignant details of his stoner lifestyle, stems and all.

Not to worry, Wiz isn’t one of those mind-numbing multi-chamber bong type stoners who corners you at parties. He loves talking about weed, but it’s only part of his greater life mission: the pursuit and capture of chill vibes. His aesthetic isn’t the relentlessly forced cheerfulness of EDM or chart-pop — it’s a low-key sense of never-ending ease, a life consisting of simple struggles (finding a grinder, avoiding the cops while hot-boxing) and simpler pleasures.

“High up and we’re floating,” he raps. “Don’t know where we’re going / high up and we’re floating / we’re rolling, rolling, rolling.”

He advocates for hedonism with a universally accessible praxis: smoke weed, hang with friends, repeat.

Blacc Hollywood is out Aug. 19.
