Warrant Issued for Wiz Khalifa’s Arrest After Skipping Pot Selfie Court Date
By Marissa G. Muller
Back in May, stoner rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested for trying to bring some of his smokeable inspiration onto a plane in El Paso. Police ordered a search when they found that he was traveling without identification and TSA uncovered a canister of weed.
Wiz ended up with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge and had to spend time in a jail cell. But before he posted his $300 bail, Wiz snapped a “jail selfie” that he posted to Twitter – which is now coming back to haunt him.
El Paso police had asked that Wiz hand over his phone at the time and, after seeing the selfie, they’ve now launched an investigation as to how Wiz was able to sneak in his phone – and a judge has issued a warrant for the arrest after Wiz failed to show appear in court on Wednesday, according to TMZ.
Wiz Khalifa isn’t the only rapper who’s gotten in trouble with El Paso police for weed: Paul Wall got arrested back in 2011 when Police found a vile of marijuana on him.
Khalifa has tweeted copiously since the news broke, none of it apparently about his skipped court date. He’s currently gearing up for the release of his new album Blacc Hollywood, which is out Aug. 19.
