2 Dead After Mad Decent Block Party in Maryland
By Kevin Rutherford
Two died and many more were hospitalized over the weekend at the Mad Decent Block Party in Maryland.
According to CBS Baltimore, the concert, which was held Aug. 1 at the Merriwether Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., included multiple hospitalizations — 20 at first report — plus, initially, one death.
Tyler Viscardi, 20, reportedly died of a drug overdose after being rushed from the festival. He was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. Police are unsure what drugs Viscardi took to cause the fatal overdose.
Later, another death was reported, though the name of the victim, a male, has been withheld because he was 17 years old. He was reportedly from Woodbridge, Va.
Diplo, who helped create the Mad Decent Block Party, took to his Twitter Saturday afternoon (Aug. 2) to express his condolences.

In addition to the two deaths and over a dozen hospitalizations — many of which were reportedly for drug-related issues — 50 citations were issued for underage drinking, with three arrests made.
Diplo headlined the festival, with additional performances from Sleigh Bell and Wolfgang Gartner.
Mad Decent Block Party continued the next night in Norfolk, Va., with the festival seeming to go off without a hitch, save for inclement weather that forced the concert indoors.
