Swedish EDM star Avicii has recruited an all-star cast of rockers for his second studio album, including Jon Bon Jovi, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Serj Tankian of System of a Down.
According to Rolling Stone, Avicii is a good 70 tracks into the full-length, which will follow his blockbuster 2013 debut, True, which featured breakout hits “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother.”
“It’s going to be a lot more song-oriented,” the DJ and producer explained. “True was an attempt at that, getting electronic music in a song format.”
When queried about the controversy surrounding a recent Boston concert that resulted in 36 fans being hospitalized and labeled a “Level 2 Mass Casualty Event,” Avicii insisted that the incident was exacerbated by the media: “It got blown out of proportion. It sucks, because it gives electronic music a bad reputation.”
Avicii’s tour itinerary finds him in Europe for most of the summer, with his only scheduled U.S. dates being his Las Vegas residencies at Encore and an appearance at this year’s TomorrowWorld fest happening outside of Atlanta over the weekend of Sept. 26-28.
