Deadmau5 has never minced words when it comes to being critical of garden variety EDM. Now the cantankerous Canadian has gone so far as to produce a parody track that’s he’s released in the form of a free download on his Deadmau5 Live website.

Entitled “Carbon Copy Cookie Cutter,” Deadmau5 teased the new tune with a series of tweets sent out to his almost 3 million Twitter followers. Stating that he was “making some incredibly cheesy s–t for lols” and that “this should be illegal,” he went on to announce that after a mere 30 minutes of working on it, the track was available for free, adding “of course, I don’t have the balls to sell this to you.”

Some fans seem conflicted with the trolling aspect of the track, with one of Deadmau5’s Twitter followers who goes by “Rebound” lamenting, “it’s so weird. I get that it’s kind of a troll. But like, it’s still got your spin on it so I can’t help but like it.”

Deadmau5 is hardly a stranger to EDM parody tracks, having famously dropped producer McMaNGOS‘ tongue-in-cheek remix of Martin Garrix‘s “Animals” with the children’s song, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
