Usually when we have one band laying down a challenge to another band on social media, things are getting ugly.
You may remember the clip of Weezer drummer Patrick Wilson catching a Frisbee at a Florida concert that went viral last month. Well, last weekend at Michigan’s Mo Pop Festival, Young the Giant’s frontman Sameer Gadhia made a bid to be the ultimate Frisbee champion of alternative rock when a fan launched a disc from the back of the amphitheater.
Sure, the big difference is that Weezer’s came mid-song, Wilson catching the identified flying object in mid-hit. But that didn’t stop Young the Giant from challenging Weezer on Twitter to see who has the best Frisbee-catching rocker.
Will Weezer respond to the challenge? We can only hope so, as we haven’t seen a good old fashioned Frisbee duel since our sophomore year at UC Santa Cruz.
Weezer’s new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, is due on Sept. 30, while Young the Giant are currently on tour in support of their latest, Mind Over Matter.
