KISS Announce 9-Date Vegas Residency at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

It’s surprising that it hasn’t happened before now, but today KISS announced their first-ever residency in Las Vegas.

From Nov. 5-23,  “KISS Rocks Vegas” will take over The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

“What happens in Vegas will not stay in Vegas, not if we have anything to do with it. We intend to blow the roof off the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino,” Gene Simmons said in a press release.

The Vegas Hard Rock has hosted residencies from a number of hard rock bands, including Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue and current KISS tourmates Def Leppard, as well as Santana and Tiesto.

Chas Smith, vp of entertainment for Vegas’s Hard Rock, told USA Today that the hotel will be appropriately KISS-ified during the band’s stay. “The activation will encompass the entire property for the month they’re out here — from the performances onstage to wrapping the hotel with Kiss stuff to having team members wearing Kiss shirts,” Smith said.

The shows will play to a much smaller audience than KISS is used to: The Joint will seat about 3,200 for these shows. Paul Stanley told USA Today, “Usually, going into a smaller venue means eliminating things. The great thing about going into The Joint, it gives us the opportunity to add. Much in the same way as a Broadway show, when you have a permanent installation, you’re not breaking down every night to travel. So we can do things we wouldn’t normally do.”

The band have a rather busy schedule for the next few months: their tour with Def Leppard takes them through the end of the summer; on Oct. 31, they kick off their five day “KISS Cruise,” and the Vegas residency starts the day they return.
