If the snippet of new song “Lovers of the Sun” is any indication, EDM superstar David Guetta is ready for summer.
With singer-songwriter Sam Martin on vocals, the tune is set for release on June 30, although fans can get a taste of what’s to come thanks to 19-second teaser released on Youtube today (June 27).
The new track follows “Blast Off!,” Guetta’s high-energy collaboration with Kaz James released earlier in the month, which features heavy guitars over a dubstep bass line.
“Lovers of the Sun” looks to be a much smoother and melodic ride, with Martin’s soaring vocals matched to a warm, driving rhythm. For some listeners, the song might bear more than a passing resemblance to recent hits by fellow EDM star Avicii, with the song utilizing sounds similar to those used in his hit, “Wake Me Up.”
Guetta, who was announced among the headliners for the massive TommorrowWorld festival slated for Sept. 26-28 in Atlanta, recently told England’s Capital FM that he has a new track that would be idea for pop star Miley Cyrus.
“I’m finishing [the album] now, actually!” said when asked about the follow-up album to his 2011 release, Nothing But the Beat, which featured the Sia-assisted hit “Titanium.” “Oh my god we made a song [that Miley] would be so perfect for. We did it like two days ago, and it’s such an obvious song for her, I was like, ‘Who could pull that off?’ She would be totally good, it’s really like this.”
