Will we be hearing more Katy Perry than ever in 2016? On Friday (June 20), the bubbly singer/songwriter tweeted a photo of herself posing with Hillary Clinton (and a copy of Clinton’s book, Hard Choices), saying, “I told hillaryclinton that I would write her a ‘theme’ song if she needs it…”
That inspired Clinton’s first tweet in 20 days yesterday (June 22). Either she doesn’t want Perry to write her a new song, or she already has her heart set on a big hit from the singer’s catalog: “@katyperry Well that’s not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar.”
Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not Clinton will actually need a theme song of any sort. She’s been cagey in interviews over the question of whether or not she will run for president in 2016. For now, her main objective seems to be promoting Hard Choices, although she has said that she would decide on whether she will run by the end of this year, giving Perry a bit of time to try and write something as catchy as “Roar.”

By the time Clinton tweeted back at her, Perry had moved on, tweeting to express her excitement over her next concert: “I’M SO EXCITED TO PLAY I MIGHT PASS OUT #THEPRISMATICWORLDTOUR.”
And that’s good news; tomorrow (June 24) she plays Washington, D.C., and she’ll be on the road in North America through October.
