Gerard Way has laid low since My Chemical Romance broke up when it comes to musical output — until now.

Today on his YouTube page, the former MCR frontman premiered “Action Cat,” his first solo single since the band’s breakup.

“Action Cat” doesn’t stray too far from Way’s roots. It’s kicked off with a quick, jerking riff before Way’s vocal arrives, marking the launch into a denser guitar attack.

Everything coalesces into a fist-pumping chorus that’s followed by some hand claps.

“Do you miss me?” he asks in the outro. “‘Cause I miss you.”

“Action Cat” marks the first full-length look at new material from Way, who signed to Warner Bros. last monthto release his album.

There’s currently no word on a release timetable for the solo record.

My Chemical Romance broke up in March 2013. The band released a greatest hits compilation, May Death Never Stop You, a year later.
