Morrissey‘s arsenal of songs includes a good amount of cold-blooded (and often tongue in cheek) songs, among them “Pretty Girls Make Graves,” “Some Girls are Bigger Than Others,” “You’re the One for Me, Fatty” and “We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful.”
He’s adding yet another song to that list with “Kick the Bride Down the Aisle,” which he debuted at his June 7 concert at the Boston Symphony Hall.
The song opens with an organ which would sound more appropriate at a funeral than a wedding, as Morrissey sings, “Kick the bride down the aisle/make no mistake/it’s the best you can do/for everyone’s sake.”
Later, he unleashes one of his trademark harsh lines: “Kick the bride down the aisle/look at that cow.” And lest you think that the “cow” refers to the bride itself, things get even nastier. “In the field, it knows more than your bride knows now.”
Morrissey’s World Peace is None of Your Business is due out July 6. His current tour was originally slated to continue tonight (June 10) in Baltimore, but as he’s wont to do lately, the former Smiths frontman has postponed his next two shows. Currently, his next set is in Chicago on June 13.
