Ice Cube’s Son Could Play His Dad in ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Biopic
By Kevin Rutherford
The Straight Outta Compton N.W.A. biopic appears to have its Ice Cube, and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree for this one.
According to The Wrap, Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., will portray his father in the upcoming biopic.
The rapper had previously confirmed to The Guardian in February that he was looking into his son, himself a rapper until the name OMG, as a potential for the part, noting that Jackson could “recite Straight Outta Compton at two years old.”

Now, it’s looking like more of a reality, though it was also explained that Universal Pictures, who perhaps still hasn’t even green lit the film itself, did not confirm the casting. However, The Wrap hypothesized that more of the cast could be announced officially this week.
That cast could or could not include another N.W.A. offspring. Eazy-E’s son has lobbied for a part as well.
Ice Cube is one of the chief producers behind the film, as is Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s widow, Tomica Woods-Wright. F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen, The Italian Job) is attached as a potential director.
Ice Cube was originally scheduled to release a new album, Everythang’s Corrupt, but the release has since been delayed with no explanation. He’s set to perform at Bonnaroo this weekend.
The Straight Outta Compton album celebrated its 25th anniversary last August.
