Gene Simmons to Produce a TV Series About ‘Ugly Models’
By Brian Ives
According to various reports, including The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons will coproduce a Lifetime series titled Ugly Models tackling a U.K. modeling agency that works with “character models with unique and unusual looks” as it attempts to expand into the U.S. market.
How unique and unusual are these “character models?” Check out the company’s website and decide for yourself.
The site boasts that “We like our women fat and our men geeky, we like the extremely tall and the shockingly small. No one is too abstract for our books! We are Ugly. And we are the leaders in character modeling. With a unique outlook on modeling [sic], our philosophy is simple – ‘Any beauty can be airbrushed but we want our look to have true character.'”
Among their roster of talent is the tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen (“At 8ft1, he’s got legs to die for!”) Their “Prince Albert” has, according to the website, 241 piercings, while Elaine Davidson boasts 2,520. They also have more traditional looking models, so “If you have luscious locks and fab-abs you’re still Ugly to us!”
It’s neither the Simmons family’s nor KISS’s only foray into the small screen. Simmons’ wife and daughter, respectively, star in the Shannon and Sophie reality show on the W Network, an offshoot of sorts of the entire clan’s now-defunct A&E show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.” Meanwhile, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley will feature in an “unscripted series” on AMC about their Arena Football League team (and, presumably, the team’s cheerleaders), the L.A. KISS.
