Preview Kenny Chesney’s New Single ‘American Kids’

“A little messed up but we’re all alright,” Kenny Chesney sings on his new single “American Kids,” which is due to hit radio on June 23.
Chesney posted a video preview of the track on his Twitter account early this morning (June 2). The nearly 30-second clip shows a hand-painted school bus traveling through the desert filled with young people. The musicians on board contribute to Chesney’s familiar musical style with acoustic fingerpicked guitar, banjo and tambourine. Listen below.
Last week, Chesney also took to Twitter to reveal a cryptic message that simply read “9.30.14,” which many speculate is the release date of his next album.
Chesney has been off the grid this year, choosing not to embark on his usual summer tour and instead to work on his forthcoming album, the followup to 2013′s Life on a Rock. Last month, he came out of hiding to play a benefit concert for Matthew McConaughey and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees at New Orleans’ House of Blues on May 17.
“Having spent the last five or six months in the studio, I am so ready to get out there and play,” Chesney told The Tennessean. “Even though we’re making music, it’s not the same and I can’t wait to be in a room with the energy of the people…have that feeding back at me, getting all that coming back at me.”
