Minimation: Debbie Harry Prepares for Combat

On Minimation, we comb through the archives of legendary New York radio station WNEW-FM and animate interviews with legendary rock artists. This installment is taken from a 1980 interview with Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie, as the band was enjoying huge success from their #1 single, “Call Me.” This was animated for by Max Werkmeister of Ugly Cupcake Entertainment

We all know that Debbie Harry is a badass, and not a woman to be messed with. She sort of brings that point home in this interview clip from 1980, where a fan calls into WNEW during her on air interview and asks, “If we do have a war with Russia, would Blondie entertain the troops like Bob Hope did?”

“Definitely,” she responds.

Harry even went a bit further, discussing the need for civilian training so we could help to defend the front lines, “Like the Swiss Army,” she said.

Take note, Mr. Putin.
