In a statement tendered to the Associated Press (via the Huffington Post), the trio does not reference what caused the scuffle between Solange and Jay Z that caused his sister-in-law to punch and kick at the rapper, even going in at him again despite being restrained, but all involved have handled it internally and are moving past it.
“…the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the statement read. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
The same statement also noted that, despite not handing out details of what caused the argument, Solange was not intoxicated, as was theorized by some.
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false,” it continued. “At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”
Solange and Jay Z quarreled in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York last week, security footage of which was leaked onto the Internet by TMZ earlier this week. The hotel said that it has since fired the employee responsible for the leak of the clip.
Meanwhile, the only statement prior to the one given to the Associated Press had been nothing more than Instagram posts from Solange and Beyoncé of each other, seeming to squash the rumors that the duo was angry at each other following the incident.
