Australian rapstress Iggy Azalea continues to take America by storm, landing on the upper echelon of Billboard‘s Hot 100 twice this week — she’s at No. 3 as the featured guest on Ariana Grande‘s new hit, “Problem,” and again on her own tail at No. 4 with solo single, “Fancy.”
Azalea is smart to strike while the iron is hot, landing a new track, “Million Dollar Dream,” on the soundtrack for upcoming Disney baseball movie, Million Dollar Arm, starring Mad Men actor Jon Hamm.
The song is a collaboration between Azalea, soundtrack composer A.R. Rahman, best known for his work on Slumdog Millionaire, and Bollywood playback singer, Sukhwinder Singh. “Million Dollar Dream” finds Azalea applying her streetwise vocal styling to the upbeat tune, with Singh handling the melodic hook.
“It was fun to work with up and coming new talent like Iggy,” Rahman told Rolling Stone about the collaboration. “She added a lot of zing to the Indian punjabish track we did for the movie.”
The soundtrack to Million Dollar Arm is set for digital release on May 13, with the CD hitting retailers on May 19. The album will also feature Wale and KT Tunstall. The movie hits big screens on May 16.
