After receiving rave reviews when it debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Under the Electric Sky, the surprisingly emotional documentary about the 2013 Electric Daisy Carnival event in Las Vegas, is set to hit theaters at the end of this month.
In the meantime, fans eager to get a glimpse of the EDM-powered feature can feast their eyes on this new full-length trailer below.
The trailer is full of behind-the-scenes images, showing the laborious and painstaking process of building the massive staging for the 2013 festival. Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella is shown discussing some of the motivations and goals of EDC, while DJ Tommie Sunshine can be seen talking about the 350,000 people that made their way to the event: “These are all the kids who ate lunch by themselves in high school, and they stumbled upon this and they went, ‘whoa.'”
“I just didn’t expect the movie to be anywhere near as moving as it was. I think everybody in that theater shed a tear at least four or five times,” DJ/producer Gareth Emery told Radio.com during a recent interview. Emery, who appears in Under the Electric Sky, was among those who caught the movie at the Sundance premiere. “When I came out, I said to Pasquale, ‘that was so much more touching than I expected.’ I think anybody seeing it will probably feel the same way.”
Rotella recently revealed the film’s movie poster as well as announcing that it would shown on big screens across the country on May 29.
The Insomniac CEO took to Facebook this week to address the lineup for the 2014 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival, saying that it would be unveiled on May 27.
