Kenny Chesney Unveils Surprise New Orleans Concert Plans

By Annie Reuter

Kenny Chesney fans who have missed seeing the singer’s annual live show are in luck: he just announced a new show in New Orleans.

Last year, Chesney said he would take a hiatus from touring to focus on his next record. According to The Tennessean, he has kept his word, until now.

When Matthew McConaughey and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees asked Chesney to play their benefit at New Orleans’ House of Blues on May 17, Chesney couldn’t say no.

“Having spent the last five or six months in the studio, I am so ready to get out there and play,” Chesney told The Tennessean. “Even though we’re making music, it’s not the same and I can’t wait to be in a room with the energy of the people…have that feeding back at me, getting all that coming back at me.”

The concert will feature Chesney for a one-hour acoustic set. Tickets are a cool $350 and all proceeds go to McConaughey’s charity Just Keep Livin‘ Foundation and Brees’ The Brees Dream Foundation.

“Now other people will benefit from all of us getting together in the name of songs — and remembering all the things that music makes us feel,” Chesney said.

Chesney’s forthcoming album is due out this fall.
