If the rumors are actually true, fans might get to hear new music from Frank Ocean earlier than first expected.
The singer, whose debut, Channel Orange, came out in 2012, is reportedly gearing up to play this year’s Met Gala, on Monday night (May 5).
According to the New York Post, Ocean will headline the gala, which is considered to be the fashion world’s equivalent to the Oscars, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Last year, the punk-themed gala was headlined by Kanye West, who caused a frenzy when he debuted a few never-before-heard tracks, including “I Am a God,” which eventually would end up on his 2013 album, Yeezus. Seems Vogue’s Anna Wintour might have a passion for fashion and hip-hop.
The singer hasn’t been completely quiet on the music front though. Last month, he released “Hero,” a collaboration with Diplo and the Clash‘s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon as part of Converse’s Three Artists, One Song series.
