Watch Beck Cover Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’

By Scott T. Sterling

For those fans who miss the more fun and freewheeling Beck while he delves into his more serious and somber impulses with his recent release, Morning Phase, this one’s for you.

Following a recent taping for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Beck and his band treated those in attendance with an impromtu take on the Michael Jackson classic, “Billie Jean.”

The loose, almost Talking Heads-like take on the timeless Thriller single was an ideal segue into “Sissyneck,” found on Beck’s genre-smashing 1996 album, Odelay.

Beck recently joined Arcade Fire onstage during the second weekend of Coachella to take on Prince‘s 1981 funk favorite, “Controversy.”

Beck is set to embark on a tour in support of Morning Phase this summer, kicking things off with an appearance at this year’s Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE.
