As Hunter Hayes gears up for the release of his sophomore album Storyline on May 6, he’s giving fans a taste of what’s to come with “You Think You Know Somebody”.
The emotional track is an instant download when fans pre-order the album on iTunes and as of yesterday (April 22) fans can witness Hayes performing the track live at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
According to Taste of Country, Hayes said the song is one of the most personal songs he has ever written.
“I’m cautious to talk about it,” Hayes said. “It’s about that moment when you really thought you knew everything about somebody. Everything was going well then all of a sudden everything just disappears. It’s that really hard moment of when you’re whole life changes, instantly.”
“Every late night call/ Every morning kiss/ All the I can’t live without yous/ And you say goodbye like this,” he sings.
Hayes shows off his guitar chops throughout the track, specifically in the last minute of the song with soaring electric guitar features. Watch him perform the song below.
Next month, Hayes will kickoff his 24 Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger in an attempt to beat the Flaming Lips‘ previous record of eight shows in 24 hours by playing 10 shows in 10 cities in 24 hours. Learn more about his 24 Hour Road Race on his website.
