Upcoming Run the Jewels Album Could Feature Zack de la Rocha

By Kevin Rutherford

Killer Mike and El-P are back in the studio recording a new Run the Jewels album, news that would be exciting enough for most hip-hop fans.

However, it’s one of their collaborators that’s making the most waves: Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha.

According to Pitchfork, the rappers posted separate pictures on their Instagram accounts featuring de la Rocha. “Yes it’s really happening,” El-P added on his photo, with a hashtag signifying the project’s second album.

An additional picture from producer Daddy Kev revealed a wider shot also featuring blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, with an accompanying caption of “If these walls could talk,” according to self-titled.

The duo’s Run the Jewels collaboration first came to fruition last year, with their self-titled release coming in June and receiving high acclaim. They began recording Run the Jewels 2 earlier this year, with no release date currently confirmed.

de la Rocha has been quiet on all fronts recently. After reuniting with Rage Against the Machine at Coachella in 2007, the band has not performed live in three years.
