The Los Angeles-based rapper who cut off his penis and leaped off a two-story balcony in what police are calling an apparent suicide attempt? Not affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan.
At least, that’s what the rap crew is saying after news broke of the incident yesterday (April 16). According to Gawker, the group posted a statement to their website saying that rumors of Andre Johnson, rap name Christ Bearer, being down with the Clan are greatly exaggerated.
The now-deleted post reportedly warned readers against believing “the HYPE. This Mother Fucker Ain’t Got Shit to do with The WUTANG Brand.”
If he isn’t anymore, Johnson was at least at one point affiliated with said brand. The rapper, as part of the duo Northstar, was originally discovered by Wu-Tang’s RZA in 1998. RZA later produced the duo’s debut album, Bobby Digital Presents Northstar.
Johnson reportedly made his leap early Wednesday morning at around 1 a.m. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he apparently is in good condition, though his penis is not, TMZ reports.
It’s not like the Wu-Tang Clan needs another thing to deal with at this point. Today, Raekwon fumed in a Rolling Stone article dissing RZA and the group’s new album, A Better Tomorrow, which RZA has claimed does not feature Raekwon.
