Band Who Played Bedside for SXSW Car Crash Victim Gets Opening Gig for Barry Gibb
By Kevin Rutherford
A Phoenix-based band that gave a bedside concert to one of the victims of the South By Southwest car crash during which an intoxicated driver drove into a crowd of people at the festival is being paid back for their kindness.
The six-piece will accompany Gibb over six dates of his Mythology the Tour Live, starting next month. According to the disco bigwig, the band is “fantastic,” and he believes they will “add the perfect element to the whole show.”
Jared and the Mill pegs itself as an indie folk-rock act. The group came to slight prominence when playing a mini concert for 18-year-old Mason Endres, who was one of the SXSW attendees struck by the car driven by Rashad Owens March 13 that has killed four people, by her hospital bed. Endres suffered a broken leg and nose, as well as a fractured neck.
The band will join Gibb May 15 in Boston, with the six-date tour wrapping up June 4 in Los Angeles.
