While the sound of the saxophone has been a longtime staple in rock music from Quarterflash to Gerry Rafferty, Courtney Love is letting it be known that she’s on the side of those who believe those bleating brassy strains need to be as far from rock and roll as possible.

In the latest edition of her ongoing YouTube video series, Love takes on classic rock hero Bruce Springsteen, and throws saxophones under the bus in the process.

“I like Nebraska,” she says as something of a disclaimer at the start of the clip regarding the classic rocker’s legendary 1982 solo album. “Whenever I say that to a Springsteen person, they look at me funny.” [ed. As a "Springsteen person" I assure you they most certainly do not.]

Love goes on to detail a night out when director/writer/journalist Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) took her to L.A.’s Staples Center to catch Springsteen put on one of his legendarily marathon concerts: “I could only last an hour and a half of a three-and-a-half-hour show with the Boss.

“My Springsteen problem is just that saxophones don’t belong in rock and roll, they just don’t belong,” she adds with a pained look on her face. “I don’t think [Springsteen] sits around listening to Hole records. Do you?”

Love ends the clip by laughingly recalling the opening line from the title track of Hole’s 1991 debut album, Pretty in the Inside: “Slut kiss girls/ Won’t you promise her smack?/ Is she pretty on the inside?/ Is she pretty from the back?”

When she’s not hating on woodwind instruments or helping locate the missing Malaysia Air Flight 370, Love recently found the time to reunite with the former Hole lineup that produced 1998 full-length, Celebrity Skin, setting off rumors of a reunion that she later had to retract.
