Lana Del Rey Shares Slinky, Sad New Song ‘West Coast’

By Jeremy D. Larson

Last night at Coachella, Lana Del Rey debuted her new song “West Coast”, the first single from her forthcoming album Ultraviolence

In an act of no coincidence, she released the studio version of the song today. The slinky, breathy ode to a boy and the western seaboard of the United States is the first taste from her new album, and the song pretty much stays in Del Rey’s melancholic lane. Is it, as she claimed of her new songs, “so dark it’s almost unlistenable”?  Well no, not in the slightest.

No release date is set for Lana Del Rey’s third studio album Ultraviolence, but it will feature production from Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. She’s also out on tour this spring after another weekend at Coachella, and you can check out those dates, along with the single art, below.
