Ed Sheeran Announces Arena Tour of North America
By Kevin Rutherford
The English singer-songwriter announced today (April 14) a North American headlining tour that’ll kick off this summer. The 15-date jaunt, will be the first headlining arena tour he’s undertaken, and will be this side of the Atlantic Ocean’s first chances en masse to experience new music from Sheeran’s LP X, which is out June 23.
The tour kicks off Aug. 22 at the WaMu Theater in Seattle and currently wraps up in Toronto on Sept. 18., though more dates are expected to be announced. Supporting acts have not been revealed.
Pre-sales for the Toronto, Boston and Chicago stops will be available April 22, with the general 0n-sale happening April 25 via Sheeran’s website.
X features new single “Sing,” which the artist premiered just a week ago (April 7) and performed first on SNL Saturday night. The Pharrell]-produced/written track preceded the premiere of “Don’t,” another cut from the album that finds Sheeran certainly bitter about a recent breakup, which may or may not have included Ellie Goulding in the picture.
There’s 10 other tracks on X, revealed when Sheeran posted the track list to his Instagram last Wednesday.
